Sanlam has partnered with the SA Professional Services Academy as headline sponsor of the second SA Professional Services Awards (SAPSA).

The awards were first held in 2014 in recognition of the professional excellence of individuals across industries such as accounting, management consulting, architecture, legal, quantity surveying, and engineering

The Academy, established in 2014, promotes professionalism in the professional services industry and provides a platform for interaction across disciplines. As part of the joint venture, Sanlam and the Academy will also host information sessions focusing on trends in professionalism and ethics within professional services firms.

The 2016 SAPSA awards will be held in November and will be judged in two main categories namely legal and finance on the one hand; and engineering and the built environment on the other. The winners of these categories will compete for the position of overall winner at both organisation and individual levels.

The awards include Professional of the Year, Discipline Firm of the Year, Category Firm of the Year, Young Professional of the Year and Woman Professional of the Year. There will also be special awards for lifetime achievements, recognising individuals with long careers in their fields who have contributed to the development of their organisations and professions.

The firms will be judged based on set criteria, which includes their contribution to the profession, their contribution to the community, a commitment to ethics, a demonstration of customer service, the achievement of business and growth targets and their contribution to transformation.

“The professional services industry plays a vital role in our economy and is pivotal to achieve national growth targets. We believe professionalism and best practice deserve to be promoted and the organisations and individuals who champion these ideals, should be recognised for their efforts,” says Jan Steenkamp, Executive Head of Sanlam Segment Solutions.

Founder and Project Manager KC Rottok Chesaina agrees: “The role of professional services in South Africa cannot be understated. We are extremely pleased that Sanlam has agreed to throw its weight behind our efforts to promote exceptionalism within this fundamental industry.”
